About the artist

Amy Soricelli says:

I am a lifelong Bronx resident - Masters Degree in Education and over 30 years assisting people find jobs.  Poetry is an important part of my life and (more recently) trying to take photographs to visualize what's going on in my head.   Along with being published in Camel Saloon, have been published in Turbulence Magazine, Poetrybay, Long Island Quarterly, Deadbeats and several other small publications.

I use an Iphone 5 (most pictures are taken from a moving #7 Express bus from the Bronx into NYC) while  i quietly say "stop here stop here" to myself as the driver flies by what could be considered a good shot.    To enhance a particular aspect of a picture I will use Photo Editor, Picsart and occasionally PS Express.

If I had to choose a favorite photographer - it would most probably be Dorothea Lange - her stark black and white images of the great depression have always moved me and caused me to wonder what existed in their minds and between the lines of their faces....

  1. I like the way you have conveyed your personal perspective on New York City. I have only visited once - long ago, and very much as a tourist. Your photographs have shown me something of the place where people live and go about their day-to-day lives. Thank you.
